F.A.N. Discussion Forum > Fluoride Tablets

Having suffered bad teeth all my life, I thought that giving my two young children Fluoride tablets daily might stop them getting bad teeth. The ages are 3 and 5. Are the fluoride tablets the same as water fluoridation? Do they come from the same place? How healthy then is it for my 3 and 5 year old to brush their teeth when all they do is swallow the toothpaste?

Thanking You

Yes, as far as I know, it is derived from an industrial waste.

As long as people buy their propaganda, their profits will continue, it's BIG business as always!

even with no fluoridated water your children will be getting fluoride. A friend of mine has not only strongly mottled teeth but also many cavities, so fluoride is not the answer but good calcium, vitamin D, Magnesium and vitamin C.

Give them a glass of diluted conventional grape juice and the odds are they will be getting more than they should.
Or my hairdresser told me that the doctor told them to give his daugter a little bit of pedyalite because it had fluoride. That is how I know that Pedialyte has fluoride. It is not stated.

Fluoride tablets have been shown to be just as effective as fluoirde mouthrinse. The problem with most of these topical fluoride treatments is they in fact only are effective for smooth surface cavities, which is generally not the problem for children. Normally children get cavities within the pits and fissures of their teeth. That is why dental sealants are very important. These are the deep grooves that are hard to clean and that is where systemic fluoride can help.
Also, if you have severe fluorosis you will not have cavities. It's impossible! That is originally how in 1909 Dr. McKay did research on what he called the Colorado brown stain. In Colorado springs people had awful brown stain but no cavities and that research later gave what we know about fluoride today.

Don't let your kids swallow any toothpaste. You want to make sure it is fluoridated to strengthen their teeth but they only need a pea size amount on the brush and always supervise.

The Chief medical officer in Victoria, Australia recommends not to use flurodated toohpaste or tablets, which I guess attempts to justify putting it in the water supply so they can medicate everybody, not just those who need it.
