F.A.N. Discussion Forum > dental fluorosis
My daughters doctor had me giving her fluoride vitamins from about ages 2 months to 9 months(when she went to a new doctor). My daughter is know 3 years old is she appears to have dental fluorosis. Does the fluoride stay in her system? Because she didnt even have most her teeth when we stop using it and we only had fuoride water from ages 11months to 16 months. I really just started noticing it the last few months, since I found out about the dangers of fluoride and dental fluorosis. Is there anything that I can do to reduce the fluoride in her system? Will here teeth get worse in time? Will it effect her adult teeth? Her doctor never told me that there was a posibility of dental fluorosis or that it had any negetive side effects for that matter, is that legal?

HI,
Calcium, Magnesium Vitamin D and C will help flush out fluoride off the body. But the teeth will always probably stay stained. If the permanent teeth are not formed in the jaw yet than I guess they might be spared if fluoride intake is decreased.
I do recall having read here at FAN that fluorosis is reversible at least in children in three months by the intake of 200 mg of Vitamin c daily.
Also aboid especially conventional grape juice, has enormous amounts of fluoride. Processed foods especially cereals and mechanically deboned chicken.
Beta Caroten is a fluoride synergist and acidic foods will facilitate fluoride absortion.

Thanks alot!!!! We drink conventional grape juice all the time. We get it for free on WIC, its one the few items that we dont do organic. Cereal is another one, basically beside what we get from WIC we eat organgic. I guess I'll have start purchasing those items. Thanks again, I feel so horrible that I trusted the doc and didnt look into myself. I feel like I let my daughter down. I know I cant fix any harm that it has done to her bones or her poor developing brain, but atleast I can try to save her permanent teeth. I will also spred the word to prevent this happening to other children.
