F.A.N. Discussion Forum > Can anyone please advise me about my 11 old son?

Can anyone advise me please? My son is 11 years old and has recently had 3 deep fillings which first started with brown staining in the grooves of the molar teeth. When the dentist began to remove the staining there was a lot of decay underneath. Our dentist who is also an orthodontist told me that his tooth enamel is porous. We have never lived in a fluoridated area and we have a good diet, with hardly any sweet stuff and we have always used fluoride free toothpaste in order to minimise exposure to fluoride, so we think it seems unlikely that he can be displaying symptoms of flourosis which the dentist also said. He did however drink a lot of grape juice when he was young though we are not sure if that alone would be enough to produce such symptoms.
The dentist suggested that there could have been a problem with the formation of his teeth when he was very young. Can anyone enlighten us further on this issue, and whether there can be other causes for the condition of his teeth?
Furthermore our dentist has recommended a topical fluoride treatment to ‘strengthen’ his teeth. This would entail applying the Flouraid treatment for 1 minute every night until he is 16 years old. I naturally have reservations about this treatment but I am also concerned about my son’s dental health. Again can anyone please advise?

I believe teeth health is formed in uterus at about 6 months gestation under good supply to the baby of vitamin A, c, D, and calcium, Magnesium. Maybe your son should definitely avoid refined sugars and starchs increase the intake of those vitamins.
I myself have some problems with fluoride. Beware of fluoride release from fillings, very common nowadays, they provoke health problems, as my own experience.
I myself use a topical paste with bio-available calcium and phosphate. Ask your dentist if it helps in this case. It is called MI Paste from GC Corp. Go to www.recaldent.com and dry-mouth-explained.com to see more details.

go to this web site

http://poisonfluoride.com/pfpc/html/symptoms.html

porous teeth are mentioned there as side effect of too much fluoride.
